Universitat Rovira i Virgili

Luis Tarifa was born in Granada, Spain, in 1995, where he obtained his BSc in Chemistry (2018) and his Master's in Chemical Sciences and Technologies. During this time, he completed his bachelor's thesis and master's final project on reticular structures, such as MOFs and COFs, under the supervision of Jorge Navarro.

He was later granted with an FPI fellowship and moved to Zaragoza, where he pursued his PhD, focusing on catalytic applications of transition metal complexes with redox-active ligands under the supervision of Ana Geer and Cristina Tejel. During his PhD, he had the opportunity to undertake a research stay at Leiden University under the supervision of Dr. Hetterscheid, where he learned the fundamentals of electrochemistry. On May 2024, he defended his PhD thesis, titled "Reactivity and Catalysis of 'Late' Metals with a Heteroditopic and Active Imine," obtaining the Cum Laude distinction.

He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Catalytic Organoboron Chemistry research group.
